Production Operative

32 hours per week

£9.50 per hour

Duties are varied and will include all aspects of the day to day running of the manufacturing premises, including machine operation, hand packing, record keeping, cleaning and some physical tasks.


Experience of working with food is preferred but not necessary. A strong work ethic along with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and ambition to grow personally and professionally in experience and skill is a must. Ideally you will have an interest in food and environmental issues. The successful applicant will need to be physically fit and be able to lift 15-20kg bags of ingredients comfortably.

The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain an excellent level of personal hygiene.
  • Perform opening and closing checks, ensuring the workplace is clean and hygienic at all times.
  • Make batches of chocolate bars, following recipes precisely and carefully.
  • Ensure batches are recorded and labelled meticulously.
  • Clean machines thoroughly after use and re fill them.
  • Perform monthly checks on ingredients, ensuring shelf lives are adequate and rotating stock as necessary.
  • Packaging chocolate bars and performing quality control checks at various stages throughout the production process.

Take an interest in the issues surrounding the food industry, promote the Company’s philosophy and be a positive ambassador of the Company both in and out of work hours.

A level 2 Food Hygiene qualification is essential for this role. If the successful candidate does not already have this, they must be willing to gain the qualification.
